What tools do we need to paint a pattern from a painting stencil?
PREPARATION
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
Before starting work with the painting stencil, prepare the necessary materials and tools. First you should clean the surface on which you want to make the pattern and gently sand it with a fine-grained sandpaper. Subsequently, cover the surface with a layer of wood varnish. So well prepared substrate you should leave to dry. If you use a ready-made decorative plaster, you do not have to worry about some additional preparation - you can start applying the product just after opening the package.
PRINTING
ATTACHING THE STENCIL
Before attaching the stencil, prepare several pieces of masking tape and keep them preferably at hand. Place the product on the selected surface and position it. When you decide that the position is correct, carefully attach the stencil using the previously prepared tape. In this case, we advise you not to use a spray glue - it could destroy the final effect.
IMPLEMENTATION
APPLICATION OF PLASTER
After attaching the stencil, start applying the mass. Cover the entire pattern’s surface with it so as not to leave any empty spaces. The thicker the applied layer, the more convex the pattern will be. When you decide that the pattern is properly covered with the mass, you can start removing the stencil. Do it gently in order not to blur the applied structure. When doing this, minor stretching or cavities of the concrete and jagged edges may occur on the surface of the plaster, but you shouldn’t perform any corrections at that moment. Leave the entire surface to dry.
IMPROVEMENT
TWEAKING THE PATTERN
When you determine that the mass is sufficiently hardened, you can grind the unwanted elements and smooth the edges with sandpaper. Finally, clean the decor - you can use any brush or some flat one for this. Optionally, you may paint the pattern in any color you want to - in this case, our acrylic paints will surely work well.
