What tools do we need to paint a stencil pattern on the wall?
BACKGROUND
PREPARATION OF THE WORKPLACE
Before commencing the work, protect the floor and all elements in the workplace area. Afterwards, remember to clean the painted surface from dust and other dirt. Any cracks and chipping on the wall should be filled and painted before beginning the pattern application. Subsequently, prepare all the necessary tools: stencil, brushes, paints, and masking tape. In the case of walls with a high gloss, during painting ceilings, or when you choose a delicate, highly detailed decor, you may also need a spray glue.
IDEAS
STICKING THE STENCIL ON THE WALL
The most important thing to do before starting the work is to plan the appearance of the decoration. The set of stencils contains 14 elements of various sizes, giving many possibilities of arranging them on the wall. You can use all or just some of them. Exemplary set's visualizations, which can be modeled on, are available on the manufacturer's website. You definitely shouldn't paint without thinking as the effect may be disproportionate to the work done. One you know what composition you want to create, start sticking the stencils with masking tape to the wall. This is a highly important element of the work owing to the fact that an incorrectly fitted stencil may move and destroy the pattern. As soon as you have completed all the above steps, you may start the work.
COMPLETION
PAINT APPLICATION
Appropriate paint for working with stencils should be thick and smooth. In order to cover the pattern precisely with paint, it is best to use sponge brushes or a delicate sponge roller. Remember to drain the brush on a paper towel or a sheet of paper. This will limit paint leaking under the stencil. By using the so-called tapping method, so gently rapping a brush on the surface, you can accurately apply color even in hard-to-reach places. A sponge roller will be great for larger and simple elements of the stencil, allowing you to paint them quickly and efficiently.
COMPOSITION
PATTERN REPETITION
If the stencil surface is completely covered with paint, you do not have to wait until it dries. In this case, you can detach the product. However, pay attention no to blur the freshly painted pattern. On the other hand, to repaint another part of the decoration, it is necessary to wait until the pattern dries. Place the stencil to the wall carefully, joining it with the previously imprinted outer part of the decor. Repeat this step until the surface is filled with the pattern. After the work has been finished, wash the painting stencil with warm water and secure it properly. This will enable its long-term usage.
